Over 440 guests attended the 2007 Women of Action (WOA) bi-annual
luncheon at PHS Patron Dame Elisabeth Murdoch's picturesque Cruden
Farm in a flowing marquee awash with fuschia, teal, magenta, blue
and yellow silks, ornately decorated candlesticks and scattered
rose petals.
Titled 'A Touch of Morocco', the day was an overwhelming success.
Held every two years, the day was a culmination of many months of
tireless work by a dedicated committee of 10 women, headed by President
Helen Fairlie. Plans are already underway for the 2009 event that
will be held earlier in the year to co-incide with Dame Elisabeth's
100th birthday celebrations.
Guest speakers included Carol Schwartz AM who spoke on 'Women,
Power and Philanthropy' and a young man who delivered a moving talk
on the services PHS made available to him and his family during
his father's illness and his bereavement. He left the podium to
rousing applause. Photos from the event are available here.
