

COUNSELLING & SUPPORT
Counsellor/Case Workers employed by PHS have formal qualifications in the fields of Social Work, Psychology, Family Therapy, Pastoral Care, Counselling and Bereavement.The service is available to PHS clients and their immediate family members or caregivers and is provided free of charge. Appointments are available at your home or at PHS.
What does a Counsellor/Case Worker do?
- Provide information about the services available to help you manage your normal everyday activities
- Provide an opportunity to talk about your worries, fears and hopes
- Normalise grief reactions
- Support your general well-being
- Help you access information and community resources about financial, legal or respite needs
- Offer family meetings to discuss current concerns or issues
- Embrace cultural differences
- Help you adjust to a terminal illness
- Help link you to other PHS services such as support groups, volunteers, art therapy, music therapy and spiritual support.
Your PHS Counsellor/Case Worker will maintain contact with you on a regular basis and support you in meeting your needs. Counsellors are available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
