New premises for PHH

We have had much to celebrate in the last year and while change has its challenges it is balanced with the energy and excitement that new beginnings bring.

In February planning started on the refurbishment of new accommodation for PHH, carefully guided by a small committee driven by an experienced Project Manager. The work was carried out by a team of very skilled tradesmen who worked tirelessly to create our new home.

The Foundation Committee, led by Sue McCarthy was instrumental in raising the funds which allowed us to progress the redevelopment and created a platform for ongoing fundraising to meet the outstanding capital expenses.

The new premises provides us with new opportunity. We now have an independent profile that is visible to the community, the location is central to our client base and we have the space to create different programs to address the changing needs of people facing the end of their lives. It is also a wonderful workspace that offers an ambience of light, harmony and nurture, congruent with what we want for our staff and clients.

Our focus continues to provide home based specialist palliative care, but we have a greater role now in linking effectively with other services providers.

The future challenges for us in this arena will be to have diverse partnerships and to create opportunities to bring our community together to be able to talk about death and dying without fear and to step forward with confidence to care for and support others.

We are indebted to the wonderful community supporters who organise the enjoyable functions that raise money to support the families on our program and enhance our profile. More than ever now, our future depends on community support to making PHH a strong and sustainable organisation.
